Picture it. Helen Tyson Middle School in the fall of 1998 where I began my musical journey. I signed up for band in order to try something and figured that it would only be for the one year anyway. However, just a few weeks into this musical experience, I was inspired by my teacher, Bob Sivils, to become a band director.

Since that time I have diligently pursued an education in music. I student taught at Russellville Middle School under the direction of Mrs. Sue Niven and Mr. Travis Beard with whom I was able to gain insight into the wonderful realm of education, observe different teaching styles and begin to develop a style all of my own.

I graduated from Arkansas Tech University with a bachelors of Music Education in December of 2008. After graduation I had the opportunity to gain valuable experience in classroom management by substituting in the Bentonville and Springdale School Districts. Moreover, I was selected for a long-term substitute position for a middle school band director at Spring Hill in Bentonivlle. For about two months I was responsible for team-teaching beginning band classes and to carry on the standards of excellence Bentonville School have come to expect from their faculty and students.

When I am not actively seeking new teaching metholodgies I enjoy keeping up to-date on technological advances and how to incorporate the technology into the classroom in order to facilitate higher-level learning in the classroom. I also enjoying honing my photography skills. Over all, I prefer landscape photography because I get to hike, but I also really enjoy taking candid photos.
